Hagalíns DJ´Dynamite
Hagalíns DJ'Destiny
15.07.2009Show held june 28th and 29th 2009. Our dogs did us proud once again at the kennel clubs summer show. We entered three boxers from our breeding. The judge was Mark H. McMillan from Canada. Hagalíns DJ‘Dynamite got Excellent, HP and third best male. Hagalíns DJ‘Destiny got Excellent and her first CK and was BOS. ISSCH Hagalíns Close´N‘Personal aka Chocco was BOB. It is always a pleasure to own both BOB and BOS. Chocco then went on to win group 2 who was judged by Christine Rossier-Feuz from Switzerland. Best in show was judged by Tamas Jakkel from Hungary and he awarded our Chocco BIS 3!! We are so proud of his success and it is worth the while to menchune that those three dogs we enterd are all siblings from two different litters by ISCH Roamaro Hot Rock and C.I.E ISCH Socotra She´s Like The Wind. We also had the best boxer breeders group.
Our Boston Terrier female Notting Hill Inca got her second CK and was BOB. Judge was Guy Jeavons from Canada. Deffinetly a show to remember :-)
06.05.2009This is Hagalíns DJ´Dynamite aka Nóbel at 11 months old. He is from Johnnys and Kylies second litter born mai 27th 2008. We co-own Nóbel with Einari Erni and family. Very nice young dog with happy and outgoing temprament . We look forward to watch him mature and to show him in the future.
02.03.09We did very well at the Icelandic kennel clubs show this weekend. Our boston terrier NottingHill Inca was BOB with cac and cacib, this was our first show together so I am very pleased with the result. The judge was breed specialist Mr. Laurent Pichard from Schweiz.. My boxers also did very well, Chocco or Hagalins Close´N´Personal was BOB with cac and cacib and his litter sister our Sally or Hagalins Catch The Spirit was BOS with cac and cacib. I also showed their younger full siblings that I co-own Nobel and Bella, and they did very well both got excellent. We then won best boxer breeders group with Chocco, Sally, Nobel and Bella who were just 9 months and 2 days old! Then later same day we were in third place of the best breeders group of the day. I was very pleased as we had not practised at all and this was the youngsters first show. The boxer judge was Mr. Frank Kane from the UK. This is what he had to say about the Hagalíns breeding group:
Beautyful heads, excellent breed type with good lenght of leg. All carrie good toplines. 7. July 2008Then the Icelandic kennel clubs sommer show is finished and our dogs did very well. Hagalíns Catch The Spirit (Sally) was BOB 2 and got her third Cac. Hagalíns Close´N´Personal (Choco), Hagalíns Diamonds Are Forever (Tímon) and Hagalíns For Your Eyes Only (Aþena) all got Ex. Me and little Ari Hrafn then travelled to Stockholm to the World show. We saw many very good boxers and the one who got Bob was a very nice dog and superbly handled. We had very much fun, met a lot of boxer breeders and went to a boxer BBQ that Linda at Handlers held and there we met many interesting and kind dog people. We really enjoyed our stay and little Ari was such a good travel companion :) 20. June 2008The puppies are now more than three weeks and are doing really well. They eat three meals per day and grow rapidly. They have opened their eye´s and are walking about a bit and playing. Shortly they will start to leave their litter box and go out to look at the big world. They are all very nice and it is difficault to decide between them who I like best. There are new pics of each and every one on the puppy page under D - litter. Still some puppy´s are not spoken for, interested can contact me by mail boxer@boxer.is
06.06.2008The puppies are doing very well as kylie takes very good care of them all. As they are so many I have started to fed them a small amount of mince beef once a day and they like it very well. Past ew days have been ather difficault to us all, expecially Kylie as we had a earthquake at 6,3 richter when the puppies were just 2 days old. Normally she was scared of her puppys, mor so as there have been constant after shakes that start very close o our home town or as close as 5 km. At june 28. and 29. we will have the Icelandics kennel clubs summer show, and on the july second me and little Ari Hrafn are going to the World show in Stockholm with few good friends. There we will watch the boxers and the boston terriers and go to a BBQ at our friend Linda at Handlers with more boxer lovers. We really look forward to that :-)
April 2008There has often been a long time between the updates of our webpage but never as much as now... However, this cannot be explained by us having had a calm summer.
In the beginning of the summer two dogs from the A litter completed a mental test. It was Hagalin’s Arcelia Suelita – Embla and Hagalin’s Arcadia Senona – Gyðja who went through the test and finished it with good results. This means that 6 of 8 dogs from the A litter have now finished the mental test, but two have yet to do it. From the B litter all dogs have done the test and also finished it with good results. Thus in total 11 dogs from our breeding have done the mental test and all of them finished it. Naturally we are extremely proud and pleased with all of them. We are also very thankful to their owners for having made them do the test. Next summer the dogs from the C litter will be old enough to do a mental test and of course we hope that all 9 will do so :-)
Elli and I took Sally and Chocco to a puppy seminar in the dog school Dog Life.. We all learned a lot and had great fun with cousin Kevin and our friend Queen. It’s always fun and instructive for the dogs from the countryside to go to the capital city and sniff at the culture there.
As usually we went to the Icelandic Kennel Club’s summer show. It was an OK show, although it would have done the Portuguese judge some good to once read the breed’s standards before he started judging… We showed Sally and Chocco for the first time as they were finally old enough to take part. They were shown in the group of older puppies. Both of them got honor price and Sally was chosen the breed’s best puppy. She got into the finals of the shows best puppy in the older group and there she won 5.-7. place. She behaved like a fool when she was supposed to move but managed to completely stand still, like a statue, when she was supposed to. I am extremely satisfied with both of them and until now they fulfill all my expectations. Johnnie was chosen the breed’s third best dog and a worthy champion and Kylie was the breed’s best bitch and a worthy champion. A bitch from our A litter, Pysja, also got her first Icelandic Cac, we were naturally very proud of her as she is a really pretty bitch.
In July the family went on a holiday to England and of course we visited Many and Richard of Roamaro breeding. They are Johnnie’s breeders and have been very helpful about everything concerning the dogs. We looked at many beautiful dogs and puppies and now we are eagerly waiting for a new litter that we can get a puppy from. Hopefully that will happen soon. After we came from the UK we finally went ahead and got married and had a wonderful day with our closest family and friends in Leirubakki in Landsveit.
In August I took Kylie to a obidient course which was held by the dog school Dog Life close to Flúðir. This was a three day seminar and the teacher, Tune, came from Norway. She was very nice and thought me lots of things that I didn’t know before. However, the best thing about the seminar was Kylie. She was willing to do everything for me, quickly learned all the new things and did everything I told her to do – it was as if we had one mind. She got along fine with all the dogs she met and wasn’t disturbed by anything. Tune, who has held several dog seminars in Norway and had lots of Boxers coming to them, said she had never met a Boxer more competent, obedient, good tempered and levelheaded than Kylie. Wow was I proud of her :-)
Guðný and I took the friends Sally and Chocco and the St. Bernhard dogs Kevin and Hófí to the photographer Rut Hallgrímsdóttir. Of course it was Guðný who came up with this splendid idea. It was an awful lot of fun and at the same time extremely difficult but we did manage to get some really cool photos. It’s no joke to have four large dogs, practically still puppies, in a small studio and expect them all to sit and stand by demand when they are actually more thinking of having some fun… It all went well in the end, but by then I guess Guðný and I were looking pretty worn out J The photographer, Rut, gets my best recommendations for endless patience and of course for making good photos. I strongly recommend all dog owners to take their dogs to her, if they want really beautiful photos of their dogs. I’m sure you can also get photos of children and dogs together or even the whole family.
Now, we’ve come to the Icelandic Kennel Club’ autumn show which was held in the beginning of October. This time the judge was Polish and I have to admit that I had prepared myself for a thing or two concerning the judgeing. However, the judge was quite good in my opinion and obviously not looking for heavy and rough continental types as I had expected. We did extremely well, even better than we had dared to hope. Sally became the breed’s third best bitch and got her first Icelandic Cac. Chocco became the breed’s third best dog and also got his first Icelandic Cac. Actually he didn’t receive it until after the show due to a mistake done by the ring steward. I am very pleased that they both got Cac as they had just left the group of older puppies three days before the show!
Johnnie became the breed’s second best dog and a worthy champion and Kylie became the breed’s best bitch, a worthy champion and got her sixth Cacib. She was then also chosen the breed’s best dog and got into the group finals but didn’t get a place there. More dogs from our breeding were shown and all of them got first grade and honor price. Pysja from the A litter was the second best bitch and got a reserve Cacib. Extremely great results and of course it is always fun when things are going well :-)
In the beginning of October Chocco and I took part in the Icelandic Kennel Club’s Laugavegur walk. A few other Hagalin dogs were also there with their owners, it was really nice to see them all :-) Thanks for coming all of you.
In late November I went with a few good people to Norway to attend the dog show in Hamar. I went to the same show also last year and was then rather disappointed with the Boxer dogs I saw. This time there was a different judge and consequently the Boxers that were shown were differentr, not as continental or heavy and rough. The dogs that I liked, all originated from Britain and most of them didn’t spend a lot of time in the ring since the judge and I didn’t exactly have the same taste for dogs… nevertheless the show was fun and of course I did considerable shopping for both dogs and men.
Kylie was hip scored in February and we now have the results. She is HD:A or FRI and also ED:FRI. As one can expect we are very satisfied with these results.
On 1st and 2nd March 2008 the Icelandic Kennel Club’s spring show was held. I was quite nervous for the show because I had registered all 4 Boxers to participate, although I was due to give birth to our third child on 26th February. Consequently I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it to the show at all and it was pretty clear that I would not be showing the dogs myself… Luckily for me Anna Francecka came to Iceland from Sweden and took on the task of showing my dogs. I also made a deal with the baby that it was not allowed to come before the show but that it would be welcome at any time afterwards :-)
The show went beyond all my hopes and dreams. ISCH Roamaro Hot Rock (Johnnie) became the breed’s second best dog, a worthy champion and got his 4. Cacib and Hagalin’s Close´N´Personal (Chocco) became the breed’s best dog and received his 2. Cac. Hagalin’s Catch The Spirit (Sally) became the breed’s second best bitch and got her 2. Cac and ISCH Socotra She´s Like The Wind (Kylie) became the breed’s best bitch, a worthy champion and received her 7. Cacib. The breed’s third bitch was Hagalin’s The World Is Not Enough and she got a res Cacib. Then Chocco went on to win his mom, which made him the breed’s best dog! This is excellent because now he has won both his mom and his dad and this must be a sign that this breeding was a success.
Chocco then entered the group where he showed himself very well, his moves were excellent and he ended up winning the group – 14 months old!!! Extremely good results for such a young dog and of course we are very proud and pleased J The Boxer judge was Marija Kavcic from Slovenia and the group judge was Diane Anderson from the US. We are really thankful for all the help we received around the show, special thanks go to Anna Husky who did a great job showing the dogs.
And to top this weekend our third son was born on Monday morning at 06:04, 3605 gr. and 51 cm – a beautiful healthy baby boy that receives all of our attention these days. Apparently our breeding is coming along just fine these days :-)
