Táta
Táta was a Golden Retriever and Irish Setter crossbreed. She was born on 21st January 1994 and was given to me by Elli around Easter 1994 when we had just moved into our first house. Táta was a very intelligent dog and a quick learner, it took for example only two weeks to housebreak her. She always accompanied me to the stables and went with me horseback riding. She was a real hunting dog and it weren’t few mice that ended their life after a short encounter with Táta. Around the stables there were always a few domestic ducks swimming in the canals but she never paid any attention to them, seemed to know that she was not allowed to touch them. In the same canals there were often wild ducks swimming with their ducklings in the summer, these she used to chase like mad and didn’t let anybody tell her not to… how she made this distinction I don’t know. Táta was an extreme racist. She was quite young when she decided that there were far too many Border Collies in this country and that it would be best to try to reduce their number somewhat. Thereupon her attitude towards them was first hitting and then sniffing… and every now and then she found out that some of them were maybe ok after all. Táta was a great friend of the boys and shared their bed with them until she died but they didn’t know life without Táta until she was put down in December 2006. She is greatly missed by us all.
