About us
Behind the Hagalin breeding is the whole family at Háeyrarvellir 52 – in one way or another. The family consists of me (Unnur), my husband Elli and our three sons, born in 1994, 1998 and 2008. Taking care of the dogs is mostly my responsibility as having them is mainly my hobby. However the other members of the family of course also take part in caring for the dogs since we all have them as pets.
In 1994 we got Táta, which was an Irish Setter-Golden Retriever crossbreed. In 2000 Dimmalimm joined the group, but she was bought from Bjarkeyjar kennel. After that there was no turning around, I became completely fascinated by the boxer and it soon was evident that there would always be a boxer in my home. I started showing Dimmalimm as soon as she was old enough and immediately caught the dog show bacteria. Gradually I started thinking about dog breeding and the general welfare of the breed and subsequently we decided to import new blood and start our own breeding. By now we have received a bitch and a dog from Britain.
All our dogs live inside the home and undeniably there is always a lot of action. However that’s the way we want to have it and actually can’t imagine having it any other way since the dogs are an inseparable part of the family. In our opinion both children and dogs benefit from living together as it does everybody good to learn to treat each other with respect and consideration.
Our aim is to breed beautiful and healthy dogs with a good character that are loving and loyal companions and capable of great success in shows. All our breed dogs are shown, hip scored and have passed the Icelandic Kennel Club’s mental test.
Our puppies are brought up inside the home, where they get used to children and normal family life. We strongly emphasize that they get to know as many sounds and things in their surrounds as possible, so that there will be few surprises awaiting them in their new homes.
The puppies are health checked, worm inspected, vaccinated, micro-chipped and have pedigree´s from the Icelandic Kennel Club when they are handed over. They also come with instructions on diet and other care taking. We put great emphasis on staying in contact with the buyers of our puppies after the puppies leave home, and are always prepared to assist and give advice to the best of our knowledge.
